RESUME-ACTION PLAN
Steps to prepare high school students for what's next

Conquering High School:
Turning Overwhelm into Opportunity
Figuring out what to do in high school to be competitive for college can be overwhelming. Many freshmen don’t realize how important their grades, extracurriculars, and leadership opportunities are. At Chain Reaction, we believe high school should be an enjoyable journey, not a race to check boxes. Our Resume Action Plan offers the guidance you need to plan ahead, celebrate, and document your successes as they happen.

Our plan offers a tangible piece of paper—a resume—that highlights what you’re doing or provides those "aha" moments to help you realize where you need to get involved more. Every day, we remind students that their GPA is just one line on their resume. Our Resume Action Plan equips teens with the tools to create polished resumes while teaching essential soft skills like commitment, attention to detail, and time management. With hands-on guidance, students learn to showcase their skills and stand out to employers, college admissions, and scholarship committees.
1
Reflect
The first part of the RAP, students reflect on their accomplishments and record them. This includes GPA, certifications, etc.; everything a college admissions committee or hiring manager is looking for.
2
Goal Setting
Students then set realistic goals for them to accomplish that year, starting with service and then school. This creates a sense of personal responsibility for teens about their accomplishments and capabilities.
3
Action
Students begin to identify and take actionable steps to achieve those goals. They take responsibility for those actions; starting with what they do at CR, what they do in the classroom, and move towards what they want to do in life.
